AML

When Mum was diagnosed with Leukaemia in May 2023 our family was devastated and frankly, scared! The literature outlined treatment options and statistics that were not favourable to positive long term outcomes. However, Mum reassured us that she would battle this disease and beat it, telling her specialists that one day she will make them famous! Which she did many times throughout her journey, overcoming obstacles that others before her could not. At times being coined ‘the miracle lady’ by her medical team.

Mum was determined to live, she loved her family and friendships and wanted to watch every one of her 6 beautiful grandchildren grow up.  We watched her battle this horrific disease and were in ore of her continual strength and determination. There were never complaints, or thoughts of giving up, just an incredible sense of hope and positivity, that made us feel like everything was going to be alright.

However, the treatment options to cure AML are ZERO. The only real chance Mum ever had to survive her diagnosis was through hope and resilience. Mum wanted her battles and contributions to science through medical trials to one day provide improved treatment options for others. This tribute is to honour her battle and wishes.

Our Mum Marie, beautiful, selfless, resilient and simply one in a million. Shine bright like a diamond xxx

Together we will keep their star shining bright

Hello friends & family,

I am sharing this page with you as someone I love and care about deeply has been affected by blood cancer.

I want to honour their memory by lighting the way for future Australians affected by blood cancer by supporting the work of the Leukaemia Foundation. And I want a future where no lives are lost to blood cancer.

A donation in memory of our loved one means their legacy will have a lasting impact for years to come.

Their life will continue to help all Australians with blood cancer access the best treatments, care and support they need to survive, and thrive no matter their background or where they live. Their legacy will power ground-breaking research meaning fewer families will be going through what we are in the future.

Please help me honour their legacy by using the 'Donate' button. The more people who know about the Leukaemia Foundation's work, the greater their impact, so please spread the word by sharing my page with your friends, family and colleagues.

Thank you in advance for your generosity. You will be giving an incredible gift of hope.

Thank you for your kind support

Marie you were truly one in a million. Even from miles away, your humour, warmth and incredible zest for life always found a way to reach me. I'll forever cherish our chats, the laughs we shared and comfort of knowing you were always just a message or call away. Despite the distance, your presence was always felt. Life feels a little quieter now, but the bond we shared will always live on in my heart. Thank you for being such a beautiful part of my world. You will be missed. Lots of love Karen M xxx 💋💄
