Together we will keep their star shining bright
Hello family & friends,
We lost our precious Mum to blood cancer in July 2023.
Her family & friends are heartbroken.
Mum was diagnosed with a rare form of Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma in July 2019, just as Sydney went into its first covid lockdown.
A difficult time for us all, especially mum who spent 3 long months in hospital alone. Receiving her diagnosis and first chemo treatments without her beloved family by her side.
Daily phone calls and videos from her grandkids kept her going, she had a will to live a positive attitude and so much love and support from her family.
Her battle continued for 2 years. With many lonely nights spent in hospital, scan after scan and too many needles and meds for her poor body to handle.
Time and time again, she defied the doctors with her remarkable determination and will to live. The fight was often challenging and doctors (Who called her their ‘’promblem child’’) could not fathom how she would keep defying their prognosis.
During this time Mum & Dad followed their dream and moved from Sydney to QLD against doctors orders. They got to spend much needed quality time with their 4 QLD grandkids and enjoy their new life in the sunshine state.
We were all grateful for mum making it through her first Christmas in her new house and go on to celebrate her 70th birthday in February surrounded by her loving family.
When her cancer returned, there was never any question about continuing the fight. Things were getting challenging as mum also had a weak heart and her kidneys were failing due to her diabetes she had also recently developed.
Mums' will to live, fight, courage and display of heart was inspirational. Mum lost her battle. Although she was determined to fight this again, her body couldn't take it anymore.
We are heartbroken that she has gone but we take solace in the quality time we had with her and we will treasure these moments forever.
Today we want to honour her memory by lighting the way for future Australians affected by blood cancer by supporting the work of the Leukaemia Foundation. We want a future where no lives are lost to blood cancer.
A donation in memory of our loved one means their legacy will have a lasting impact for years to come.
